NLSY New Releases

National Longitudinal Survey of Youth 1997 Cohort (NLSY97): The NLSY97 Mainfile Rounds 1-7 (includes data from 1997-2003) is the latest release of the NLSY97. The files were downloaded from the Center for Human Resource Research (CHRR) and burned to CD-ROM. The CD-ROM will soon be available for check-out from 806 Oswald. The data and documentation for this new release has been added to SodaPop.

National Longitudinal Survey of Youth 1979 Cohort (NLSY79) Young Adult: The NLSY79 Young Adult 2004 data is a new release for the NLSY79. The files were downloaded from the Center for Human Resource Research (CHRR) and burned to CD-ROM. The CD-ROM will soon be available for check-out from 806 Oswald. The data and documentation for this new release has been added to SodaPop. The link for this particular data file is located within the Child and Young Adult section.

Initial release date for all files above: 6/2005.

GSS Preliminary Release

A CD-ROM copy of the Preliminary Release of the General Social Survey (GSS) 1972-2004 has been provided to PRI by the Penn State University Librarires. The data (ASCII and SPSS Portable File), SPSS Input, and weighting documentation have been added to POPNET. Please note that a codebook is not available with the preliminary release. The CD-ROM will be cataloged and available for check-out from 806 Oswald in the near future. PRI will be obtaining the full release from the University Libraries when it becomes available. Preliminary data initially released 6/2005.

PSID New Releases

The PSID Supplemental Family History Files - Marriage History, Childbirth and Adoption History have been updated to include information from 1985-2003. The data files, input, and documentation have been added to PopNet. Data was originally released in 6/2005.

Marriage History location: /home/data/psid/marital_hist
Individual files are indicated by 85-03 or 85_03 in the name.

Childbirth and Adoption History location: /home/data/psid/childbirth
Individual files are indicated by 85-03 or 85_03 in the name.

Files will be added to SodaPop in the near future.

NHANES III Linked with NDI

The National Center for Health Statistics Research Data Center (RDC) is now offering access to National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) III Linked Mortality Files. The files contain information based upon the results from a probablistics match between the NHANES III and National Death Index (NDI) records. The linke mortality file provides mortality follow-up data from the date of NHANES III survey participation (1988-1994) through December 31, 200o. More Information…”
