The 2004 NHIS was released on 7/29/2005. This release comes a full five months ahead of regular schedule due to a major re-engineering effort to improve the 2004 NHIS instrument and data production processes. Users will find many changes in the organization and content of the 2004 NHIS data and documentation files as a result of re-engineering and are encouraged to read the Survey Description document for a description of these changes.

Data components for this release include family, household, person, sample adult, and sample child. The files have been downloaded and added to PopNet (/home/data/nhis/2004). There will likely be updates to this dataset. The files will likely be added to SodaPop in the near future.
