SPSS and SodaPop

You can now create an SPSS dataset extraction from all SodaPop datasets! At present, your full set of formatting options includes SAS, Stata, SPSS, comma- or tab delimited.

Food and Nutrient Database for Dietary Studies

The Food and Nutrient Database for Dietary Studies (FNDDS) from the USDA Agricultural Research Service has now been added to SodaPop. This database of food and nutrient codes is useful with both the CSFII and the NHANES. Please note that this data collection is not available on PopNet UNIX. The original format for this collection is an Access database. Please see the FNDDS link above for more information.

GSS 1972-2004 Full Release

The General Social Survey (GSS) 1972-2004 Cumulative survey has been added to PopNet UNIX. Data (ASCII, SPSS Portable), input (SPSS), and documentation (PDF) are available. Please note that there is an errata associated with the codebook (PDF). The files will be added to SodaPop as soon as it is possible.

Please note that this release supercedes the preliminary release.

NCES Public School District Finance Search

This online tool allows researchers to compare the finances of a school district with its peers. Peer districts are districts which share similarities among these characteristics: total students; Student/Teacher Ratio; Percent Children in Poverty; District Type; and Locale Code. This data tool has just been updated to include 2002-03 fiscal data and 2003-04 non-fiscal data. Results can be used to generate graphs and can be downloaded as Excel spreadsheets.

Balancing Work and Life: A Graduate Student’s Challenge -
Preregistration is required for this free workshop.

The workshop will focus on competing obligations students face in their roles as graduate students and private (domestic) individuals. A panel comprised of faculty who study work/life balance and graduate students representing a broad spectrum of the University will present their ideas and relate their experiences. The workshop is intended to increase awareness about these competing role obligations and to explore various ways individuals have attempted to balance them. A box lunch will be provided.

Held in 102 Kern Graduate Building from 10:00am – 12:30pm.

Preregistration is required for this free workshop. Please register here through September 29th, 2005. Registration is limited to 40 participants.
