CHNS now a Search Functions Only SodaPop Dataset

Posted March 21st, 2006 by Jen Darragh in CHNS, Data Archive Updates, SodaPop News

The China Health and Nutrition Survey (CHNS) is now classified as a Search Functions Only dataset in SodaPop.  This decision was made because registration requirements complicate the archiving process, often resulting in an additional barrier to user access.  To avoid unneccessary complications, PRI is now only providing metadata and search function capabilities for the CHNS.

Please note that if you have been using PRI’s CHNS PopNet UNIX collection, the Longitudinal Data Files and Panel Data Files (1989, 1991, 1993, 1997, 2000, and 2004) are still available (in original distribution format and as SAS datasets in /home/sas_data/chns).  The Paris Windows file server will also have a SAS’d copy of these datasets, as it serves as a mirror of the /home/sas_data collection on UNIX.  The collection is up-to-date as of 3/16/2006.

To find out more about the CHNS, or to search variable content, please see the PRI CHNS Web Page.
