Low-Income Households Food Budget

This ERS publication, from the USDA, tries to determine whether some types of households are more likely than others to budget their food purchases in accordance with TFP benchmarks, and to identify households that might benefit most from nutrition education programs, the study compared actual and TFP expenditures for four household categories.

Student Financing of Undergraduate Education: 2003-04

This NCES report, based on data from the 2003-04 National Postsecondary Student Aid Study (NPSAS:04), provides detailed information about undergraduate tuition and total price of attendance at various types of institutions, the percentage of students receiving various types of financial aid, and the average amounts that they received.

Demographic Research

Demographic Research, the open access peer-reviewed journal published by the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research, has announced that it will begin publishing under a Creative Commons license October 1, 2006. Content will continue to be free to readers, and authors will be able to retain copyright under a new copyright policy.

The journal also announced that it will be indexed in full by the ISI Social Sciences Citation Index from 2005 on, and will be included in the Sociological Abstracts core journals collection from volume 1 (1999). Selected articles, especially those related to fertility, are indexed in other sources, such as Popline and PubMed.

School/Parent Interaction Limited by Household Language

A report from the NCES, based on data obtained from the Parent and Family Involvement in Education Survey of the 2003 NHES Program. The report describes school-to-home communication practices and opportunities for parent involvement at school from English and Spanish speaking households during the 2002-2003 school year.

Characteristics of the 100 Largest Public School Districts

NCES just release an annual report from the CCD about the nations largest public school districts (Elementary and Secondary) in the 2003-04 school year. The data include such characteristics as the numbers of students and teachers, number of high school completers and the averaged freshman graduation rate, and revenues and expenditures.

FIPS55 Data Now Available on PopNet UNIX and SodaPop

The FIPS 55 raw data and documentation have been added to PopNet UNIX in order to provide source data for the PRI FIPS SodaPop Collection. As this version was more current that what was available in SodaPop, that collection was also updated.
