Second decrease in cancer deaths could signal a trend

Posted January 18th, 2007 by Tara Murray in Cancer

The American Cancer Society says cancer deaths have decreased for the second year in a row, and this could be the beginning of a downward trend, according to the New York Times. The decrease is primarily due to smoking cessation and better detection of some cancers. More detail is available in the American Cancer Society’s Cancer Facts and Figures 2007 and in an article scheduled to appear in the January/February issue of CA: A Cancer Journal for Clinicians.
