Abortion Morbidity in Uganda: Evidence from Two Communities (PDF) presents results from a qualitative study of abortion in Kampala and Mbarara.  The report, from the Guttmacher Institute, “presents evidence on reasons for the occurrence of unwanted pregnancy, abortion practice, health problems women experience as a result of stopping a pregnancy, actions women take to obtain treatment, the barriers they face in obtaining treatment, and the social and economic consequences of abortion.”

Crime and the Nation’s Households

Crime and the Nation’s Households, 2005, presents data from the National Crime Victimization Survey (NCVS) on households that experienced a violent or property crime. The report, from the Bureau of Justice Statistics, found that households in the West were more likely to experience one or more crimes compared to households in other parts of the country.

Study says one-child policy effective

A systematic study of China’s one-child policy reveals details about exemptions and finds that overall the policy has been effective. The study appears in the current issue of Population and Development Review.

Hispanics transforming American religion

Changing Faiths: Latinos and the Transformation of American Religion, a new report from the Pew Hispanic Center, says that Hispanics are changing religion in America, not only because of their growing numbers but also because of different religious practices. The report is based on a series of public opinion surveys.
