New Publication from NCES

The National Center for Education Statistics has released the Condition of Education 2007, the annual statistical portrait of education in the United States. The 2007 report summarizes important developments and trends in education using the latest available data. The report presents 48 indicators on the status and condition of education and a special analysis on high school coursetaking. Click here to view and download the file in pdf format.

New public use data from RAND

A group of researchers at RAND have created a group of data sets call the Center for Population Health and Health Disparities Data Core. The CPHHD Data Core houses a large number of measures derived for a variety of substantive areas in several distinct data series including: Cost-of-Living, Disability, Pollution, Population and Housing Characteristics, Segregation Indices, and Street Connectivity. The number and comprehensiveness of the measures derived within each series vary according to the expansiveness of the substantive area. Click here for more information.

This week we launched an improved version of the PRI Grants and Funding Opportunities database. New features include:

  • Improved search, with the ability to search for student and faculty research grants, as well as postdoctoral opportunities and infrastructure, conference, and training grants
  • Browse by government agency or private sponsor
  • Browse opportunities for students, postdoctoral scholars, infrastructure, conferences, and training
  • Browse new announcements and funding-related news

The database is updated weekly by PRI Information Core staff and includes funding opportunity announcements targeting researchers in population science and related fields.

New announcements are e-mailed to PRI faculty and students weekly. Other interested researchers may receive new announcements by subscribing to our Funding News feed (see help for using feeds).

New child and family health coverage resources

The Kaiser Commission on Medicaid and the Uninsured has released several new resources dealing with child and family health coverage, including focus group results and national and state estimates of coverage by race/ethnicity and poverty level.
