Walkable neighborhoods may protect against depression

Older men who lived in more pedestrian-friendly neighborhoods showed fewer symptoms of depression, according to a study published in the April issue of the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society. The difference could not be entirely explained by exercise, a sign that something about the neighborhood itself may alleviate depression.
