Citation managers: Support and training @ Penn State
Posted August 26th, 2008 by Tara Murray in Citation ManagersPenn State provides support for three citation managers, EndNote, RefWorks, and Zotero.
EndNote
EndNote is software you install on your machine. It is available for purchase from the Penn State Computer Store (Mac and Windows platforms) and is available in all ITS computer labs and the PRI computer lab.
EndNote allows you to import references, search online databases directly, and insert citations into a Microsoft Word document. It also allows for a great deal of customization.
Support
- ITS offers an introductory EndNote workshop
- PRI will offer an advanced workshop in Spring 2009
RefWorks
RefWorks is Web-based and can be used from any location. Penn State has purchased a license - for information on how to log in, see RefWorks @ Penn State.
RefWorks provides many of the same features as EndNote, including compatibility with Microsoft Word, and promotes collaboration with other users.
Support: RefWorks @ Penn State
Training: ITS offers an introductory RefWorks workshop
Zotero
Zotero is a free, open source Firefox extension.
Support: See University Libraries EndNote page for contact information
