Illegal immigration slows, economy may be cause

A new report from the Pew Hispanic Center says that the inflow of illegal immigration to the US has slowed, dropping below the rate of legal immigration. While the report does not try to identify reasons for the decline, some researchers, including William Frey of the Brookings Institution, point to the country’s economic downturn (Associated Press).

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) has announced that it is modifying its new investigator policy to identify early stage investigators (within 10 years of receiving a terminal degree or completing medical residency).

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) has issued a reminder about the Public Access Policy, how investigators should demonstrate compliance, and how the NIH will monitor compliance.

Penn State University Libraries is offering training on the Public Access mandate this Thurs., Oct. 9.

The Population Research Institute also offers a guide to the policy for researchers.
