The National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS) has released the following new and updated National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) data:

2005-2006:
- Vitamin D
- Hepatitis C Antibody (variables added)

2003-2004:
- Cardiovascular Fitness (new)
- Lab 06 Vitamin D (updated)

2001-2002:
- Lab 06 Vitamin D

NHANES III:
- Surplus Sera Laboratory Component: Dialkylphosphates (new)
- Electrocardiogram, Dietary Recall, Laboratory, Dietary Supplement and Prescription Drug (updated)

When making direct comparisons between serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D measurements across waves, please reference the website for necessary adjustments.

The PRI Library has received an announcement of a call for session proposals for the 2010 New Partners for Smart Growth Conference to be held February 4-6, 2010 in Seattle, Washington. Deadline for proposal submission is June 26, 2009.

The PRI Library has received announcement of a service fellow position with the Office of Research and Methodology in the National Center for Health Statistics  at the CDC.

The National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy has released a new survey of Latino teens and adults about teen pregnancy and related issues, Toward a Common Future.

Changing patterns of nonmarital childbearing in the United States, released Monday by the National Center for Health Statistics, reports that childbearing by unmarried women has risen, and the increase has come from women in their 20s and older. The report uses data from the Natality Data File and the National Vital Statistics System.

“Did America’s moms and dads and potential parents see the meltdown coming before the economists?” asks an AP news story. According to Census data, the rate of growth in the baby population dropped between 2007 and 2008.
