The 2005-2006 CCD Public Elementary/Secondary School Universe and the Local Education Agency (School District) Universe Survey Data are now available on SodaPop and PopNet.

White students were less segregated from minority students in 2005-2006 than they were in 1993-1994, but over the same period black and Hispanic students became slightly more isolated from white students, according to an analysis of the Education Department’s Common Core of Data (CCD) Public School Universe Survey by the Pew Hispanic Center. The center’s report attributes the seemingly contradictory trend to Latinos comprising a larger proportion, and whites a smaller proportion, of the student population.

The NCES has announced the release of version 1c for the 2004-2005 CCD Local Education Agency data. PRI researchers may request this update from the Data Archivist.

A new report from the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) says that rural students perform better in science than their rural counterparts (AP via Centre Daily Times). Status of Education in Rural America brings together data from NCES surveys and the American Community Survey (ACS).

This NCES report presents data including the number of students by grade and the number receiving special education, migrant, or English language learner services. Some tables disaggregate the student data by racial/ethnic group or community characteristics such as rural - urban. The numbers and types of teachers, other education staff, schools, and local education agencies are also reported. Finance data include revenues by source (local, state, and federal) and total and per-pupil expenditures by function.

The NCES just released the 2004-2005 CCD data. This data has been added to PopNet UNIX and to the PRI CCD SodaPop Collection.

NCES just release an annual report from the CCD about the nations largest public school districts (Elementary and Secondary) in the 2003-04 school year. The data include such characteristics as the numbers of students and teachers, number of high school completers and the averaged freshman graduation rate, and revenues and expenditures.

The 2003-2004 Local Education Agency (School District) Universe Survey version 1b files added to PopNet UNIX earlier this week have been prepared and added to the PRI CCD SodaPop collection, replacing the previous version (1a).

NCES has released version 1b of the 2003-2004 CCD Local Education Agency (School District) Universe Survey. The updated files have been obtained and added to the CCD PopNet UNIX collection.

The new files will replace version 1a currently available in SodaPop as soon as it is possible.
