Foreign-born Latinos make progress on wages

Foreign-born Latino workers moved out of the low end of wage distribution into the middle between 1995 and 2005, according to an analysis of CPS data by the Pew Hispanic Center.

State-by-state analysis of SCHIP

According to a state-by-state analysis conducted by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the State Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) covered 6.6 million children last year, and nearly 9 million children remained uninsured.

Health Affairs Web exclusive on the uninsured

The Uninsured and the Affordability of Health Insurance Coverage is a Web exclusive from Health Affairs. The report uses data from the Current Population Survey (CPS) to estimate what share of uninsured Americans are eligible for coverage through Medicaid or SCHIP, and what share need assistance to purchase health insurance.

Counting the uninsured

Comparing Federal Government Surveys that Count Uninsured People in America (PDF), a new report from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, compares data from the Current Population Survey (CPS), National Health Interview Survey (NHIS), Medical Expenditure Panel Survey (MEPS), and Survey of Income and Program Participation (SIPP). Despite their differences, all of these surveys show large and increasing numbers of uninsured Americans.

New Census releases: income, poverty, and health insurance coverage

The Census Bureau released new data from the 2006 Annual Social and Economic Supplement (ASEC) to the Current Population Survey (CPS) and economic tabulations from the 2005 American Community Survey (ACS) yesterday. Income, Poverty, and Health Insurance Coverage in the United States: 2005 (PDF) summarizes findings from the CPS-ASEC, and a fact sheet notes differences between the CPS and ACS income and poverty estimates.

The State of Kids’ Coverage

The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation has released The State of Kids’ Coverage (PDF) as part of its annual Covering Kids & Families campaign. The report presents statistics on insured and uninsured children and the consequences of being uninsured based on data from the National Survey of Children’s Health (NSCH) and the Current Population Survey (CPS).
