This is the latest release of the RAND HRS files. The RAND HRS Data file is a cleaned and easy-to-use version of the Health and Retirement Study (HRS) with derived variables covering a broad range of measures and named consistently across waves. This version contains core data through 2002, corrects known problems, and also includes additional variables for early waves. For more information, see the full HRS release notice. Files are currently available on PopNet, and will be available in SodaPop in the near future.

This is the latest wave of core HRS data. It has been released early so that it may be used by active HRS researchers. Please note that there may be errors in the data files and codebook. Please do report any errors you find to HRS. Watch this site as several updates are likely to occur. The files have been added to PopNet only at this time. When a “final” version is released, these data will be added to SodaPop.

The HRS 2002 Core Data (Final Version 1.0) has been updated. The
text of the update notice is somewhat confusing, therefore all files were obtained, added to PopNet, and those specifically mentioned in the notice were replaced in SodaPop.
