MCDF data and documentation for 1983-1988, 2001 and 2002 have been added to the PRI MCDF SodaPop collection (files for 1989-2000 were available previously). NCHS provided 2000-2002 data to PRI prior to “official” release. As a result, the documentation for the 2000-2002 data is incomplete. Complete documentation will be made available with the official release of the data (likely on CD-ROM). PRI will obtain this official version when it becomes available, and will replace the files on PopNet UNIX and SodaPop.

MCDF files for 2000-2002 are available on PopNet UNIX and CD-ROM. The CD-ROM with the 2000-2002 data could be difficult for new MCDF users - the data is ASCII text (no program syntax available) and the documentation is confusing. It is recommended that users wanting to work with these files use SodaPop.

The NCHS has provided PRI with a CD-ROM containing public-use ASCII data and documentation files (PDF and Word format) for the 2000, 2001, and2002 Multiple Cause of Death Files (MCDF).

The 2000 MCDF was already available on PopNet UNIX and SodaPop. The files for 2001 and 2002 have been pulled from the CD and added to the MCDF PopNet UNIX collection. These files will be prepared for SodaPop in the near future.
