42.5 million adults lacked health insurance during the first half of 2007, according to estimates from the National Health Interview Survey (NHIS) released by the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS).

State-by-state analysis of SCHIP

According to a state-by-state analysis conducted by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the State Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) covered 6.6 million children last year, and nearly 9 million children remained uninsured.

NCHS announced the internet release of NHIS 1969.

The 2006 Imputed Income files are also available. PRI researchers may request this data from the Data Archivist.

The NCHS has announced the release of the 2006 NHIS data set. This data is available on SodaPop and PopNet.

NHIS: Tobacco Information Web Site

The NCHS has prepared a web site that will allow users to get more familiar with the tobacco use and smoking variables within the NHIS dataset. There is also a link to tobacco use, its health effects, and related topics.

Issue brief on family health insurance coverage
