This report (PDF), from the NSFG, describes how the sample was designed, shows response rates for various subgroups of men and women, describes how the sample weights were computed to make national estimates possible, shows how missing data were imputed for a limited set of key variables, and describes the proper ways to estimate sampling errors from the NSFG.

NSFG report on fatherhood

The CDC has issued a comprehensive report on fertility, contraception, and fatherhood among men ages 15-44. The report is based on data from the 2002 National Survey of Family Growth, which includes men for the first time. Fertility, Contraception, and Fatherhood: Data on Men and Women from the National Survey of Family Growth can be downloaded from the NCHS Web site in PDF format.
