The CDS of the PSID has publicly released the “Transition into Adulthood” Data. The data are comprised of 745 of the CDS children who have reached the age of 18+ and have
graduated from high school. Topical questions include: health and emotional well-being, time use, community involvement, self identity and perception, expectations for the future, family, peer, and romantic relationships, work, schooling, and more. The Panel Study of Income Dynamics, with support from the National Institute on Aging, announces a call for papers that use the PSID Dataset to conduct research in the area of pensions, retirement planning, and financial well-being over the life course. Papers will be presented at a two-day conference on life course financial well-being November 20-21, 2008 in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

The PSID has just announced the release of the 2005 Family Files. These data are available to the Penn State Research Community on SodaPop and PopNet.

The PRI Library has received an announcement from The Panel Study of Income Dynamics (PSID) for a free 2.5 hour workshop titled “Introduction to Using the Panel Study of Income Dynamics”.

The PSID 1997 CDS has revisions for the following files:

The new files (data, input, and documentation) have been acquired and added to PopNet UNIX. The previous version of the data is still available in a dated subdirectory (old_6_2005) should they still be needed. The data file is currently being processed for SodaPop and should be available shortly. For information on file location, please see the PSID Raw Data Web Page.

A new version (release 4) of the PSID Individual 1968-2003 ER files has become available as of 8/1/2005. This new version was released due to a correction made to the father ID for two records. The files have been added to PopNet and to SodaPop. The earlier version of this dataset, released in late July, is still available on PopNet should it be needed.

The latest cumulative file for the PSID Individual dataset has been released (7/26/2005). The data, documentation, and input has been downloaded and added to PopNet (/home/data/psid/individ). The files will be added to SodaPop in the near future.
