Fragile Families (FF) Baseline, One-Year, and Three-Year Core files were updated and re-released in May 2008. Three-Year In-Home files were updated and re-released in March 2009.

Five-Year Core and In-Home files are also now available.

New versions of all data in the National Longitudinal Study of Youth 1979 (NLSY79) and the National Longitudinal Study of Youth 1997 (NLSY97) collections have been updated in SodaPop.

The NLSY79 files are from the April 2008 release.

The NLSY97 files are from the June 2009 release.

New versions of all data in the National Longitudinal Study of Youth 1979 (NLSY79) Children and Young Adults collection have been updated in SodaPop. These files were released on Jan. 18, 2009.

The Survey of Income and Program Participation (SIPP) 2001 weight file in SodaPop has been corrected to have 4 digit implied decimal places.

The Survey of Income and Program Participation (SIPP) 2008 Wave 1 core data is now available in SodaPop.

Penn State researchers can download SIPP data and documentation from the SodaPop web site.

The TIMSS 2007 U.S. Technical Report and User Guide provides an overview of the design and implementation of the Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS) 2007 in the United States, along with information designed to facilitate access to the U.S. TIMSS 2007 data.

Penn State’s Office for Research Protections, the office that facilitates IRB approval, announced some changes in its operations. Of particular interest:

The ORP is now located at Innovation Park, but is piloting office hours at the HUB this fall. Stop by the ORP desk near the HUB information desk from 9 a.m. to noon every Tuesday beginning Aug. 25 through Dec. 15 (with the exception of Nov. 24 due to Thanksgiving/Fall break) to consult with an ORP representative about research with human participants.

Remember that IRB approval is required before beginning any human participant research including secondary data anlysis. Failure to obtain approval could mean you cannot publish or present your work. If you have questions, please contact the PRI Data Archive or the Office for Research Protections.

PRI’s National Health and Nutrition Survey (NHANES) 2005-2006 holdings are now current through August 2009. All updates and new files have been downloaded.
