The Urban Institute’s John Roman presents some interpretations of crime statistics and makes a case for strengthening data resources as part of the fight against crime in a Washington Post editorial, available on the Urban Institute’s Web site.

A report summary from the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention.  Every city with a population of 250,000 or more reported the presence of youth gangs in 2002.

Preliminary figures, from the FBI, indicate that law enforcement agencies throughout the Nation reported an increase of 2.5 percent in the number of violent crimes brought to their attention in 2005 when compared to figures reported for 2004.
